A serious effort toward adult mouse cochlear hair cell regeneration

Congratulations, Ayse, Fabian, and Nesrine, on your recent paper in Scientific Reports. This study marks our laboratory’s embarkment on translating our recent discoveries on inner ear regeneration in chickens into adult mammals. The first step is to establish a robust damage model we plan to use as a testing ground for cochlear hair cell regeneration. Our planned mouse work will systematically establish a single-cell -omics-based screening platform to investigate the barriers that prevent mammalian cochlear floor cells from regenerating hair cells. If you are a current Ph.D. candidate and are seriously interested in joining us as a postdoc to participate in these efforts, please email Stefan.
