Congratulations Marie, Mitsuo, and Ishwar to a new paper
Under Marie’s leadership, she directed a comparison of gene expression profiles across different inner cell types in avian inner ear organs. This work used existing datasets in our lab and presented a new view, providing a useful inventory of a large number of genes and how their expression differs across hair cell subtypes. It also revealed that supporting cell subgroups are much less different from one another than hair cells. In addition, they integrated data from newly regenerated hair cells in the chicken hearing organ, as well as hair cells generated by natural turnover in the avian utricle. This work relied heavily on biological and experimental work, all done by Mitsuo during his time in the lab. The paper is published in the journal iScience.
