Single-cell profiling of the avian utricle
Congratulations, Mirko and the whole “team chicken”! This paper concludes our inventorying of the undamaged avian inner ear. Over the last 5+ years, we have undertaken a major effort to establish an experimental baseline for molecular biological studies of avian inner ear hair cell regeneration. Birds, in contrast to mammals, can readily and efficiently regenerate sensory hair cells and our current focus is to use the baseline data published last year and this year for comparison how gene expression changes when the non-sensory cells of the inner ear start and execute the regenerative program.
I want to thank the dedicated group of postdocs (Mirko, Amanda, Nesrine, and Daniel) for their dedication and congratulate them for the substantial productivity over the last years. Also, thanks to Taha Jan who has been a fantastic collaborator!
