Wow! Our lab is growing :-)

I am in awe when I say this: Our group has grown quite a bit over the last year, and I enjoy the collaborative and welcoming climate and how we all support each other. Congratulations to Celeste for a fun and productive lab rotation! Celeste’s project focused on the chicken utricle (a balance organ), and she mastered a complex surgery that damaged the utricle in a controlled way so that only sensory hair cells were ablated. Along this way, she learned to dissect the utricle and to image it with our confocal microscope. She discovered an interesting phase when the hair cells are dying but still present - something worth following up in the future.
